On 200 coloured pages the reader gets an impression of the work of HERA & AKUT – two artists, who couldn’t be more different in their styles as individuals. However, together they’re forming one of the most interesting aspiring artist-duo nowadays. Their pictures are the perfect symbiosis of snotty Street Art and realism with attention to detail. The book shows in an impressive way that the mixture of two such different styles can lead to something so harmonic. On the one hand the female part HERA is using the modern stylistic device of the urban art – the roughness of her sketchiness and the charm of her typographical elements from the street, to broach the issue of classical humanistic questions.
On the other hand the male part AKUT transports the old-fashioned traditional discipline of realistic painting to the present by using the medium spray can. With his absolute perfect execution AKUT amazes even hard-boiled graffiti activists. At the same time HERA manages to pass very clear emotions by the use of just a few quick lines. The result of this combined work is the fanciful cooperation in many levels. A harmony of two aesthetics which is unique, no doubt.
What started with first graffiti experiences in the beginning of the 90s – back then in separate ways for both of them – lead to the pseudonym HERAKUT. Shortly after that the exhibitions and remittance work from London to Mexico City followed.
